Before First Use

• If using without a liner, lightly mist the inside of your banneton with water, then dust with flour (rice flour is best for non-stick results).
• Allow to dry before first proofing.
• Recommended to wash linen liner before first use to remove dust and debris
  

Each Use - with Liner

1. Prepare: Not required. There's no need to dust with flour of any kind.
2. Place Dough: With seam side up, place your shaped dough, regardless of hydration, directly onto the linen liner.
3. Proof: Let the dough rise, covered with our linen bowl cover.
4. Turn Out: Gently invert onto your baking surface or Dutch oven.
   

Each Use - without Liner

1. Prepare: Generously flour the inside of the basket with rice flour.
2. Place Dough: Flour your dough, with seam side up, place your shaped dough, directly onto the basket
3. Proof: Let the dough rise, covered with our linen bowl cover.
4. Turn Out: Gently invert onto your baking surface or Dutch oven

Cleaning & Maintenance

Rattan Proofing Basket

• After each use, tap out excess flour.
• Brush clean with a stiff bristle brush.
• Allow the basket to air dry fully before storing to prevent mold.
• If dough sticks, let it dry, then brush off
• You can occaisionally wash your banneton under warm running water and scrub off stuck on dough with a stiff brush.
• Immediately air dry in the sun or warmed up oven
• Never soak the rattan in water or put in the dishwasher.
  
  Linen Liners
• Machine or hand wash.
• Wash linen liner as needed with mild, unscented, laundry or dish detergent in warm water.
• Tumble dry with low temperature heat setting.

Do’s & Don’ts

✅ Do season your banneton with flour regularly for a natural non-stick layer.

✅ Do store in a dry, well-ventilated place.

✅ Do enjoy the natural spiral pattern or use the linen liner for smooth loaves.

❌ Don’t wash with scented soap or soak in water.

❌ Don’t store damp — moisture will lead to mold & bacteria growth.

❌ Don’t worry if the basket darkens over time — this is normal and part of the seasoning process.
